The Music Publishers Association is the National Agency for the dissemination of International Standard Music Numbers (ISMNs) in the UK & Eire and has been operating since August 1996.
The UK ISMN Agency allocates prefixes both to publishers in the UK & Eire and to publishers where a National ISMN Agency does not yet operate in their own country. Information received by the UK ISMN Agency on publications carrying ISMNs is processed for inclusion in the MPA Catalogue of Printed Music at the earliest possible opportunity.

In the period May 2008 - April 2009, the MPA issued 1,690 ISMNs and 25 publisher identifiers.
